Permanent part-time | 30 hours per week | Gisborne | Start March/April 2026
We have a fantastic new opportunity for a newly created Infrastructure Assistant role, supporting our Infrastructure & Commercial team at Eastland Port.
If you enjoy being the person who quietly keeps things moving, brings calm to busy days, and likes working with people who genuinely appreciate good support, this role is well worth a look.
This is not a typical administration role. It’s a trusted, varied support position that works across infrastructure, environmental projects, debarker operations, and contractor activity - giving you real visibility of how a complex operation comes together.
Your days will include a mix of desk-based administrative work and some site interaction, with the occasional errand thrown in. You’ll work closely with most of the infrastructure team, helping keep processes, documentation, and communications flowing; responding quickly when needed; staying organised; and making life easier for those around you.
In practical terms, this could include supporting infrastructure and asset administration, helping keep contractor and maintenance records up to date, assisting with invoicing and reconciliations, supporting environmental and compliance documentation, and providing administrative support to debarker operations. No two days are quite the same - but there’s a steady rhythm to the work and a strong sense of purpose in what you do.
You’ll quickly become a trusted, reliable, and valued team member, known for keeping things steady, accurate, and on track.
This is a permanent part-time role, offering both stability and flexibility. The hours are designed to fit around real life - as long as your hours are consistent day to day, we’re open to what works best for you, including school-friendly hours or a shorter working week.
You’ll likely enjoy this role if you:
- Like being the organised, dependable person others rely on
- Enjoy process, detail, and keeping things running smoothly
- Are comfortable juggling planned work with the occasional urgent request
- Communicate well and get along easily with different people
- Have experience in administration and enjoy an operational environment
- Value stability, good relationships, and doing things properly
You don’t need to be a specialist or come from a port background - what matters most is your ability to bring calm, consistency, and follow-through, and to take pride in doing things well.
What’s in it for you
- Permanent part-time hours (30 per week)
- Starting salary from $63,000 pro rata
- Competitive remuneration and extensive employee benefits
- Life and income protection insurance
- Fitness subsidies and wellbeing events
