Gisborne, Te Tairāwhiti
You won’t be bored here. One moment you’ll be operating plant, the next helping keep the yard or wharves in good shape – there’s plenty of variety, and always something useful to get stuck into.
Eastland Port is looking for a reliable, team-focused Loader and Plant Operator to support day-to-day operations across our Debarking and Port sites. If you enjoy operating mobile plant, working outdoors, and being part of a down-to-earth, supportive crew, you’ll feel right at home.
This is a hands-on role where loader driving and plant operation sit at the core, alongside general yard and maintenance tasks that keep the site running safely and efficiently. You’ll be trusted to pitch in where needed and take pride in doing things properly.
And just to be clear – this isn’t stevedoring or crane work. We leave that to the experts at Qube. This role is all about plant operation, yard work, and maintaining a safe, well-run site.

- Supporting debarker operations and contributing to product quality
- Carrying out general yard upkeep, including sweeping pavements and removing bark and debris
- Completing daily plant checks, basic maintenance, and supporting repairs as required
- Assisting with stormwater and asset maintenance tasks
- Working closely with your team to keep operations flowing safely and efficiently
- Actively supporting a strong safety culture
What you’ll bring
- Experience operating loaders or similar mobile plant
- Class 2 licence with WTR endorsement (forklift licence is a bonus)
- A strong commitment to working safely and looking out for your teammates
- Reliability, good communication, and a willingness to pitch in where needed
- Flexibility to work across days, shifts, and weekends during busy periods
- A practical mindset and the ability to adapt as priorities change
- Experience in forestry, debarking, log yards, or similar operational environments is an advantage
