19/02/2026
06/04/2026
Casual
Eastland Port, Kaiti Beach
Security

Gisborne, Te Tairāwhiti
• Casual role
• Day and night shifts available
• Play a trusted role in keeping the port safe and secure

Are you the one people rely on? The person who notices when something’s not quite right — and follows it through?

If that sounds like you, you could be the next capable, switched-on person to join our security team at Eastland Port. We’re looking for a Casual Port Protection Officer to provide essential cover for planned and unplanned leave, and to support operations during extraordinary events.

This is a role for someone who is alert, observant, and comfortable working within clear rules and procedures - because those rules exist to keep people safe and protect critical infrastructure. You’ll spend time monitoring cameras, controlling access, carrying out patrols, and responding when something needs attention. It’s not about standing around - it’s about awareness, judgement, and follow-through.

During a shift, you’ll be trusted to:

  • Monitor CCTV and spot anything that doesn’t look right
  • Manage port access and verify credentials
  • Carry out vehicle checks, patrols, and harbour control duties
  • Respond calmly and professionally to incidents as they arise
  • Record events clearly through logs and incident reports
  • Work closely with the wider port and marine teams

The hours

This is a casual position, with shifts offered as required to support our existing team.

Our day shifts are 6am–6pm, with nights the opposite.

There is no fixed roster and no guaranteed hours, so flexibility in availability is important.

You’ll likely thrive in this role if you:

  • Are naturally observant and pay close attention to detail
  • Have good judgement and stay calm under pressure
  • Take rules seriously and understand why they matter
  • Communicate clearly and can write concise, accurate reports
  • Hold a full NZ driver’s licence and are comfortable using radios, cameras, and security systems
  • Have a current COA (Certificate of Approval), or are willing to obtain one

A First Aid Certificate or NZQA Level 2 or 3 in security, experience with CCTV is an advantage, but not essential - we’ll support the right person with training.

Why join Eastland Port?

Eastland Port is part of a wider infrastructure group that plays a vital role in keeping Tairāwhiti connected and moving. Our security team is trusted, respected, and integral to safe operations.

We offer:

  • A meaningful casual role with real responsibility
  • On-the-job training and support
  • Competitive hourly rates
  • A supportive, close-knit team environment

This is a role where your judgement, attention to detail, and reliability genuinely matter.
