Job Description

Lead the way at Northland Debarking

We’re on the lookout for a hands-on, forward-thinking leader to take the reins as Branch Manager at Northland Debarking.

As North Port’s premier deck cargo service providers, we process the majority of deck cargo exported from Northland. Backed by Eastland Infrastructure, we’ve spent the last decade building a reputation for excellence, reliability, and strong customer partnerships.

If you have a solid foundation in the logging or processing industry, a proven ability to lead high-performing teams, and the strategic mindset to drive operational success—this could be your next big move.

Be the driving force behind operational excellence

As Branch Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading day-to-day operations while delivering on long-term performance, safety, customer, and team development goals. You’ll play a vital role in shaping the future of the business, making decisions that impact people, performance, and profitability.

You’ll report to the Debarking Manager and work closely with stakeholders across Eastland Infrastructure to ensure our Northland site remains a safe, sustainable, and successful operation.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the Northland Debarking plant and equipment
  • Driving a culture of care, safety, and continuous improvement across the site
  • Managing a skilled operational team—mentoring and supporting their development
  • Maintaining and growing strong relationships with forestry customers, suppliers, and partners
  • Overseeing plant maintenance, asset management, and by-product recovery
  • Managing budgets, production targets, schedules, and resource planning
  • Coordinating external contractors and ensuring all compliance and regulatory standards are met
  • Keeping accurate records and using operational systems to streamline processes

What we’re looking for:

  • Industry expertise – You know logging or industrial processing like the back of your hand and understand what it takes to lead a site of this scale.
  • Proven leadership – You’ve led teams before and know how to inspire performance while supporting your people.
  • Operational knowledge – From scheduling to maintenance to compliance, you’ve done it all and can manage the big picture.
  • Safety-first mindset – You’re all about keeping people safe and well, and you foster a culture where everyone takes ownership.
  • Customer-focused – You build trust and credibility with forestry customers and stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving skills – You stay calm under pressure and think strategically to find smart solutions.

Why join us?

  • A competitive salary package
  • Free life insurance and enhanced employer KiwiSaver contributions
  • Comprehensive staff benefits
  • Career development and leadership growth opportunities
  • A supportive team environment where your voice is heard and your ideas matter
