About the role:
As a Port Protection Officer, you'll be a vital guardian of Tairāwhiti's port, ensuring safety and security around the clock. Our operation needs more individuals with a strong work ethic and unwavering attention to detail.
The role is currently for a day shift position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor cameras to promptly address safety concerns and security breaches.
- Verify the identities of all individuals entering the port.
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections.
- Perform harbour control and gatehouse duties.
- Prepare detailed incident reports.
- Conduct regular patrols and handle other security-related tasks.
Work in a 12-hour cycle—four days on, four days off, starting at 6pm. Enjoy the flexibility for a great work life balance.
About You:
Some security experience would be preferable, but if you are mature, have common sense, and some life skills, we want to hear from you too! If you have First Aid and NZQA Level 2 and 3 Security qualifications, great! If not, no problem—we'll help you get them. Plus, if you're keen to learn and grow, there are chances for more training on the job.
If you are a team player and have:
- Skills to solve conflicts and handle pressure well.
- Good communication skills.
- Sharp eyes to notice unusual things.
- An understanding and interest in health and safety rules.
- Experience with CCTV and RF radio systems.
- A valid full driver's license (preferably NZ).
- A strong work ethic and a commitment to doing your best.
