The role:
As the Airport Operations Manager, you’ll work closely with the Airport Manager to ensure Gisborne Airport’s safe and seamless operations. From coordinating maintenance and exciting capital works to upholding regulatory standards, you’ll balance commercial objectives with a high level of customer satisfaction. You’ll also be the connector—working closely with tenants, contractors, and key stakeholders to ensure every aspect of the airport hums along smoothly.

Key responsibilities
- Oversee the Airport Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring full compliance and regular audits.
- Plan and coordinate maintenance activities and capital projects, managing contractors and timelines to avoid operational disruptions.
- Foster positive relationships with tenants, customers, and regulatory bodies, ensuring outstanding service and open communication.
- Manage operational elements such as car park systems, and work alongside the Airport Fire Service team to maintain readiness and safety.
- Support the Airport Manager in achieving commercial targets, budget oversight, and strategic initiatives.

Your experience & qualifications
- 4–5 years’ relevant experience in operations, administration, or a related field—aviation experience is a bonus.
- Tertiary qualification in business or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office) and familiarity with compliance/reporting systems.
- Excellent time management, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to meet aviation security requirements.
