This is a rare opening for a dedicated Health and Safety Specialist who thrives on tackling the big jobs and would like to play a part in building a sustainable future for Aotearoa.

Eastland Generation operates a large and growing portfolio of renewable energy assets. This includes three geothermal power plants on the Kawerau Steam Field, with a fourth coming on-line later in 2025.

Our current H&S Specialist is taking some time away from work, so we need someone equally impressive to step into her place and hit the ground running. Join our tight-knit team for 12 months and, after a thorough hand over, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing our culture of safety and staff wellbeing.

What you’ll be doing

In this varied, wide-ranging position, your responsibilities will include:

• Continuing a dedicated focus on mitigating risks and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and standards.
• Being responsible for the ongoing implementation and further development of effective health, safety and wellbeing programmes, procedures and initiatives.
• Collaborating on the development and review of emergency response plans.
• Working closely with various stakeholders to ensure effective communication, cooperation and coordination.
• Incident management, risk assessment, employee support, compliance monitoring, record keeping, reporting, contractor audits and management.
• Actively promoting safety, wellbeing and training across the organisation.

Who we’re looking for

You will be an excellent communicator and proactive problem-solver, known for your analytical abilities and attention to detail. You’re also collaborative, highly organised and keen to help drive positive change within our organisation.

You will have:

• Two years plus experience in a H&S role in a relevant industry (High Risk or Major Hazard Facility), with an understanding of Major Hazard Facilities and the associated regulations and compliance standards.
• Proven expertise in the development and implementation of health and safety systems and programmes, along with health and safety audits.
• A relevant tertiary qualification and First Aid certificate. NEBOSH desirable.
