Job Description

  • Join the team and help us successfully deliver multiple MV/HV electrical projects
  • Enjoy competitive remuneration and exceptional staff benefits

About us

Eastland Generation is a fast-growing renewable energy company with a diverse portfolio that includes geothermal plants in the Bay of Plenty, a hydro station in Hawkes Bay, and Tairāwhiti’s first utility-scale solar plant. With a new geothermal power station set to be commissioned in 2025 and a robust pipeline of new projects, this is the perfect time to join us and be part of something extraordinary.

We offer a supportive work environment with competitive remuneration and a commitment to your professional development. Our focus on work-life balance includes excellent staff benefits and wellbeing programmes.

Our values are at the core of everything we do, fostering a positive team culture, contributing to the community, protecting the environment, and driving sustainable growth.

The role

In this pivotal role, you will help manage the successful delivery of multiple MV/HV electrical projects. You will provide professional electrical engineering leadership and support to the projects, assets and operations teams. Your expertise will ensure that our medium- and high-voltage electrical assets are designed, constructed, operated and maintained in accordance with the relevant standards and best industry practice.

Reporting to the reservoir and projects manager (until our new geothermal power plant is commissioned), and then the asset manager, your other key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, planning, scheduling, costing and executing MV and HV electrical projects to ensure they are delivered to the agreed time, cost, quality and safety standards.
  • The selection and day to day management of the contractors necessary to execute MV/HV electrical works.
  • Managing the technical scoping, engineering analysis, budgeting and business case preparation for MV/HV electrical capital (enhancement, upgrades, or new investments) and maintenance works.
  • Maintaining a high level of industry knowledge and standards to assist with new business initiatives, operational efficiencies, and customer and team engagement.

About you

You’re looking for a challenge, in a role where you can make a meaningful contribution to the success of major infrastructure projects. You’re an organised manager, effective communicator and innovative thinker, someone who is able to work with minimal supervision while also thriving as part of a wider team. You have a deep understanding of safety protocols and procedures, as well as risk management processes and methods.

Your experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (electrical) or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience in the MV/HV electrical industry, preferably in power generation or transmission - 5 years minimum.
  • Relevant experience in the management of electrical engineering projects - 5 years minimum.
  • Proficient with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and standard business software applications; familiar with database and plant control applications.
