About the role:
Eastland Generation is on a strong growth trajectory. We’re increasing our operational capacity as we expand our portfolio of assets and solidify our position as a major player in New Zealand’s renewable energy market.

In this newly created role as Geothermal General Manager, you will oversee the operational performance of our geothermal division, ensuring the efficient, reliable and safe operation of our power plants. You’ll lead a talented team of professionals, providing operational leadership, commercial management, and fostering a culture prioritising safety and wellbeing. Your focus will be on optimising output while maintaining the highest safety standards.

As part of the Executive Team, you’ll also contribute to the company’s overall strategic vision, with a specific focus on geothermal operations. You’ll build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including iwi, board members and the wider team, and ensure continuing compliance and sustainability.

Key responsibilities:
Lead the geothermal operations to achieve optimal efficiency, safety and performance, while managing assets, financial performance, and stakeholder relationships. Your role will focus on driving continuous improvement and aligning operations with sustainability goals. Core responsibilities include:

  • Operational excellence: Ensure safe, efficient and reliable plant operations.
  • Asset management: Execute the Asset Management Plan to deliver high performance and financial accountability.
  • Leadership and team development: Foster engagement, career progression and succession planning.
  • Safety: Further develop and support a safety and quality culture throughout the organisation.
  • Stakeholder and community engagement: Build strong relationships with mana whenua, regulators, and the community.
  • Sustainability and compliance: Drive initiatives for environmental responsibility and regulatory compliance.

About you:

Your experience and qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant senior experience in the energy sector, with a strong background in leadership preferred.
  • Proven experience leading diverse teams and fostering a positive work culture.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks, particularly around health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Excellent financial acumen, with experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets.
  • Tertiary qualification in business, management, engineering, or a related field.
